Between 8 and 10 April 2025, the TOURAL project was showcased during a transregional event hosted in the city of Mediaș, Romania, organized by LAG Podișul Mediașului. The event focused on the ongoing progress of the TOM Project (Traditions, Customs, Crafts), a LEADER-funded initiative dedicated to safeguarding and promoting local rural heritage across Romania, by the conservation and promotion of local traditions and cultures belonging to some Romanian rural territories.
On the last day of the event, LAG Danube Delta had the occasion of presenting TOURAL project, emphasizing the scope and the activities of the project, especially the results of the first Living Lab Danube Delta (organized on 26th of March, in Tulcea), due to the fact that one of the 3 priorities for DD area, mentioned by the stakeholders who joined the LL, was the necessity of preserving the local ethnical traditions with the aim of extending the tourism season.
The representative of LAG DD, Mr. George Roșca – president of the LAG, emphasized that villages in the DD region are the depositories of rich cultural, natural and historical heritage and host many gastronomic, folkloric and ethnic traditions. However, the lack of a proper exploitation and promotion threatens the very existence of this heritage. Any coherent intervention / change will contribute to a better recognition and valorization of cultural heritage and traditions in the region, with positive impact on the sense of dignity and pride of local communities.
By bridging diverse rural territories, TOURAL continues to empower communities to shape the future of tourism in harmony with their cultural identity and sustainability goals.
