From 22 to 24 October, TOURAL project had the opportunity to engage and foster synergies within the Cluster of Cultural & Creative Tourism Horizon Europe projects, in the context of the Beyond Borders Workshop held in Lugano, Switzerland.
The Workshop on Cross-Border Collaboration and Macro-Regions for Cultural Tourism was organized by the SECreTOUR project, the UNESCO Chair at the Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) and the UNESCO Chair at the Università di Genova. The event brought together representatives of the tourism and culture sectors as well as international guests from organizations active in the fields of heritage and sustainable tourism.
The workshop aimed at:
- Reinforce cross-border collaborations within the framework of the Horizon Europe Cluster of Cultural & Creative Tourism projects.
- Understand public activities, challenges, and dynamics faced by cross-border tourism projects.
- Define guidelines and operational models for cooperation in the tourism and heritage fields.
On Wednesday, October 22, TOURAL participated in a round table discussion among the Horizon Europe sister projects to discuss the future of the Cluster and to define common synergetic actions.
On Thursday, October 23, the open Workshop for university students and professors took place at the Swiss Diamond Hotel, in Melide. All participating projects presented their case studies on cross-border collaboration, focusing on the significance of their pilot sites.
TOURAL’s vision was presented by Vicky Drouga, our partner from Atlantis Consulting, with the fields of Underwater Cultural Heritage and Silver Tourism standing out and attracting particular interest, along with the emphasis on the importance of the Blue Economy. She also had the opportunity to answer questions from university professors and students, raising awareness and spreading knowledge about the project’s objectives and impact.
Our participation in this workshop was a valuable opportunity to broaden the visibility of the TOURAL project, strengthen engagement with similar EU projects, and increase awareness of its innovative approach to sustainable cultural tourism.
