The Municipality of Nessebar is a body of local self-government in Bulgaria – a municipality. Nessebar Municipality occupies an area of 420.4 sq. km. area which covers 14 settlements, of which 3 towns – Nessebar, Obzor and Saint Vlas and 11 villages – Ravda, Gyulovtsa, Orizare, Tankovo, Kosharitsa, Banya, Panitsovo, Rakovskovo, Priseltsi, Emona, Koznitsa, as well as the tourist complex Sunny Beach. As a member of UNESCO since 1983 it has excellent co-operation with all partners in the network.

Municipality of Nessebar has rich experience in realization of various projects concerning the following areas:

  • Protection, study, preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage, including the underwater and maritime cultural heritage.
  • Protection and preservation of the natural heritage.
  • Development of sustainable and cultural oriented tourism.
  • Implementation of modern ecological standards and requirements.

Nessebar is the only Bulgarian town added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is one of the oldest towns in Europe, more than 3.200 years old, where the spirit of bygone times meets the pulse of the modern town. A town, where the visitor is surrounded by millennial history, and where numerous civilization have left their material footprints that fit harmoniously into modernity. Nessebar along the neighboring sea resorts Ravda, Sveti Vlas and Elenite is the biggest touristic destination along the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast offering various options for accommodation and touristic facilities and activities.
